Gospel artists Tonya Baker comes to us with a gentle yet powerful album. Entitled ‘Since He Came In’, the album gives us a personal, laid back look on how good things happen when you let God take control.

Baker puts a spiritual R&B spin on the traditional gospel track ‘Where Would I Be’. Then takes her time on ‘He’ll Never Change’ to prove how great God is while proclaiming a word to the listener that the Lord is always there for us.

Baker states “Psalms 66 says “We were created to make the praise of the Lord glorious” she then takes that statement to heart and opens the album with an up-tempo track ‘Glorious’. Baker’s voice soothes the listener as her voice invites you to joint in with her on the worship track ‘Holy is Is the Lord’ and the spirit filled “Where the spirit of God is, there is healing”.

“I got a new way of living since I’ve been forgiven” is part of her testimony on the title track Since He Came In” Her vocal power and range are all displayed on this track. Here is where you hear a more soulful sound which can only mean the words are coming from her heart as she professes “My life has been made band new since he came into my heart, He gave me joy he gave me peace he gave me life abundantly”

She again reaches deep within to testify and bless the listener with words of encouragement on ‘Vengeance is Mine’ and the reprise. The message of letting the Lord fight your battles is clearly expressed with this beautiful ballad as Baker states” Just hold your peace and just keep still,”

A twist on the album is the hard hitting, base heavy production on ‘Raise a Praise’ This track throws the album in a different direction but Blake is vocally able to handle the change. ‘Love You like Him’ will provide you with a sense of spiritual security. The peaceful harmony provided by the background gently as they give us assurance when singing the chorus “No one’s gonna love you like Him, no ones gonna treat you like Him”

If you are looking for a smooth, laid back, relaxing gospel filled sound definitely pick up this album. Since He Came In is a beautiful album to enjoy alone or in the company of others. Hopefully this is not the last we’ll hear from this beautiful voice as she sings for God.
