Tyscot artist Bishop Leonard Scott was a blessing unto the state of Alabama. The New Hope Baptist Church was loaded with praise and worship as Scott recorded his album Hymns and Church Songs (live). This album delivers well known traditional gospel songs that have been song millions of times in churches all over for several years.
Scott and the choir bring forth a powerful performance for the listener to enjoy. Guest choir director Min. Robert Barnes proves worthy of the title as the choral provides an energetic performance while backing Scott and guest lead vocals.
Scott opens the album with Pentecostal Praise Medley then flows right into a sure favorite “Sing unto the King’. This powerhouse of praise songs warm up the crowd for what appears to a night full of great music and honor for the Lord.
Haley Mitchell takes lead on ‘Bless The Lord O My Soul’ and Belinda George –Peoples gives a strong delivery on ‘He Arose’. Scott puts the traditional sound on ‘My Body Belongs to God’ while Lillian Lilly stops you in your tracks as her vocals minister to the crowd on a rendition of the ever so popular ‘Jesus Keep Me Near the Cross’. The spirit continues to move as Bishop Scott pairs with Elder Strong on ‘He is Lord’.
The album is filled with soul stirring spirituals forcing the listeners’ spirit into worship. It’s impossible to listen to album without thinking of a time when you enjoyed a good old fashioned church service. Filled with traditional gospel songs to sooth the soul, Scott delivers a strong album for all gospel lovers.
