    SHATTERED BUT MADE WHOLE

Seventh Day Slumber doesn’t seem to sleeping these days. Instead, they are at the forefront of Christian rock music including a summer tour with other Christian bands. With their latest album, Once Upon a Shattered Life, the band confirms they are not about to break, but plan to spread the love of Jesus through their music.

With the single “Caroline”, Seventh Day Slumber proved to be a band with staying power in the music world. It’s commercial success crossed over to mainstream. But it’s not surprising why the song’s a hit. The song has strong vocals singing strong lyrics and backed strong musical arrangements. A story about Jesus calling out Caroline not to “throw life away,” but let him take the pain away and dry her eyes. Every believer can relate to the song and it’s message. Jesus has done it for us.

Other songs that complete the album are “Shattered Life”, “I Believe”, and “Oceans for the Rain.” Continuing with the hard rock sound of the band, “Shattered Life” is a plea for God to “rescue me, could you get me out alive” for singer has “lost the will to fight.” On the softer, worship end, Seventh Day Slumber produces “I Believe” which is a simple, bold proclamation “I believe in Jesus. He’s Lord of Lords and King of Kings.” While “Oceans for the Rain” gives the listener, a taste of the magnificent of the Lord for “He makes oceans from the rain.” The final line of the song and album wraps up the theme of the album, “the blood of Jesus can wash your pain away.”

As the album’s title states, this album is about the shattered life made whole through Jesus Christ. The band is able to transform personal stories into touching lyrics that interweaves to make true music of worship. Even if you’re not a rock fan, it’s an album worth it.
