Well, well, well…Hez & LFC have been going strong for twenty years now. Hard to believe that in that time they have changed the face of modern gospel music and given a plethora of classic songs.
After the two Family Affair projects a lot people wondered what else is left for this group? Most would have said they had reached their zenith and it would down from there.
Do you really think it would go there after all this? Not a chance! God is faithful, and has tremendously blessed Hez & LFC.
This album picks up the live energy and fire of former projects such as Live in Atlanta at Morehouse and Live in New York…By Any Means. Not living in the past it also takes you into the future.
The opening cut is straight up Holy Ghost church Hez style! “Lift Him Up” is sooooo awesome, hit repeat and shout!
“Do You Know Jesus” is destined to be another classic in the vein of “Calling My Name” and “Second Chance.” David Frazier wrote this song for the project, he also wrote “Second Chance, “ “I’ll Fly Away” and others for Hez & LFC.
This mind blowing how anointed this song is, it will move you. Pardon my slang, but I ain’t playin’ with you.
LFC alumnus Jules Bartholomew pens “It’s More Than That.” Again, what can I say? LFC tears this up-tempo number to pieces and really blesses the Lord.
Love Fellowship’s Minister of Music Joeworn Martin pens “Hold Out.” This encouraging song has a simple message of holding out till the Lord comes to your rescue. Classic Hez & LFC are stamped all over this one.
Hezekiah Walker has made famous the saying “because God is the greatest power, we shall not be defeated.” It’s almost like their theme saying around Love Fellowship. The song “No Defeat” is a mid-tempo gem that builds up to a triumphant finish. The songs borrows it’s final vamp from this saying. But I just love the chorus “there is victory in Jesus, He gave me the power, I’m more than a conqueror” for it’s simplicity but bright vocals.
They minister a timely and deeply spiritual message in “Faithful Is Our God.” In these crazy times we live in, it’s good to know our God is faithful. They instruct the listener to “reap the harvest God promised you, and take back what the devil stole from you.” Maybe that’s an old message, but hey it preaches with the same anointing in 2006 as it did in yester year!
I love Tonex’s music. Despite however controversial he may seem, he’s anointed, sent of God, and a worshipper! He has crafted an awesome song “On Tyme God.” Hez & LFC fit this song too well. Tonex comes back in to drop some rhymes and set the record straight it’s all about Christ. It’s tha’ future baby, and it’s good. Hez + Nureau = Revelation 21:5, behold all things are made new. I’m lovin’ it!
The final track “Grateful” is a delight. The song and it’s reprise are all about showing our appreciation to the Lord for all He has done and extremely heartfelt. The realness of this song takes you back and reminds you how LFC has blessed the church and won souls for Jesus Christ through it’s twenty years of existence. LFC alumnus Kervy Brown and Gospocentric artist David Hollister (best known as a former member of Blackstreet) tear up the reprise. Definitely check it out!
My deepest desire is twenty more years of blessing and favor to Hezekiah & Monique Walker and Love Fellowship. Thank you for such a dynamic ministry and giving us the sounds of heaven on earth. Thanks for bringing it back with “20/85 – The Experience.”
