This native of St. Louis, Missouri (now residing in Detroit, Michigan) became known around the nation by her smash hit “God Did It” released in 2000 on her own label, WOS Records. Evelyn Turrentine Agee released her latest CD with Light Records in March 2005 titled “Go Through”. It was recorded live in Detroit, Michigan and produced by Alex “Asaph” Ward (Kim Burrell, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Virtue) and promises to be a winner with different styles and sounds that will appeal to almost every age.
“Welcome Holy Spirit” is so short but yet the message is key and it is strategically placed at the beginning before singing anything else. “Go Through” is one of my favorites because it has that “God Did It” sound although it has a personality and message of it’s own. “Break Forth Praise” is an energetic and hyper praise song that will make you want to get up, clap and dance in praise. Another favorite of mine is the duet with Bishop Neal Robinson her that says “I Am Yours”. This is her love song to God. It is beautifully laid instrumentally and vocally as well. She admits that even though she is a quartet singer she is not limited to only that type of music. “God Did It” gets revisited with a live flair and starts off like the original only takes off somewhere in the middle and takes everything to the next level. Or as some say, “It puts the icing on the cake.”
Awesome work and I am not just saying that because I am a fan of Alex “Asaph” Ward. This is one of those projects that you can listen to through the whole thing.
