During the 1990's it was a short decade of original new school
Hip Hop and R&B that exploded into the music industry. With that generation
came the songs of women in modern pop/R&B who would take the market by storm
and sell millions of records such artists like T.L.C., Envouge and SWV who have
all cultivated strong record sales and numerous fans around the world.
Following this trend of 90's girl power was a group called Jade.
One of the group members from Jade was a talented songsterss named Joi Marshall.
With all the exposure, concerts around the world, and fame Jade had recieved
Joi Marshall left the group and began seeking her true calling in life.
As the 1990's began to fade so did the popular groups of that time. Joi Marshall
began to do some real soul searching and began to be more involved in her hometown
church and as her life progressed she soon began teaching bible classes at her church
and other activities that she supported to enhance others and their personal goals.
During this time it was the gift of song that Joi wanted to fullfill and keep doing
and when the right time came that purpose would be divine and designed for Joi
to demonstrate to a new audience of uplifting gospel that is driven in today's modern
music with a cutting edge ministry.
With the entry of Lisa McClendon,Adrianne Archie & Pee Wee Collins
Joi Marshall continues this growing sound of Nu/Gospel soul vibe.
With her new album 'Testimony & Praise' this title sums it up pretty much .
From the first tack of the record believe me you are going to start dancing to the track
' Dance'. With dance floor fillers like this you are on a spiritual journey that Joi begins to
send you on.
After getting your praise on with' Joy' wich is also a disco heaven banger it doesn't never
hurt to get into to some issues that deal with the heart. One stand out track is called
' House Divided'. This is a beautiful way to explain why, we as people who follow Christ
are so divided by our walks of faith. If you are Catholic, Baptist, Christian, or Jewish
Joi is simply asking why do we challenge each others way of serving with our faith if all roads lead to God.
Tesimony & Praise is a well balanced album of inner soul salvation that keeps it real.
If you need something that is tried and true pick this up for some deep, soul, & devotion.
