MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota July 20, 2006 Trendency Records, a member of
Chrematizo Label Group, is releasing the latest effort entitled Tell
Um from Los Angeles-based Gospel / Neo-Soul recording artist Gina
Green. Tell Um signals an imminent changing of the guard in the Gospel
music world by ushering in the Neo-Soul Gospel era. Neo-Soul blends
elements of contemporary R&B with 1970's Soul and modern-day Hip-Hop,
resulting in a fresh sound for todays generation. Often compared
stylistically to 1980's pop diva Stephanie Mills, Gina is poised for major
success. Her debut CD, release in 1996 on Grape Tree Records (under her
then-legal name Gina Brown), sold well in excess of 10,000 copies
worldwide and topped out at #2 on the U.K. Gospel charts.
We're very excited about the direction Gina has taken with her music
and believe her style is cutting-edge. She has the potential to open up
a whole new doorway for Gospel recording artists, stated David C.
Coleman, President of Chrematizo Label Group. On the cusp of the Gospel
Music Associations proclamation indicating an 11.6% jump in Gospel music
sales over the same period in 2005, the future looks brighter than ever
for Christian music. RIAAs 2005 Consumer Profile cites that
Religious music only accounts for 5.3% of overall sales. America, a nation in
which 75% or more of the population considers itself to be Christian, is a vastly untapped market. Being in step with, and even eclipsing, current musical trends will bode well for the Christian music industry going forward, Coleman concluded. The growth potential is readily apparent.
Gina Green has performed on the same stage with gospel and contemporary
Christian artists Tonex, J Moss, The Gospel Gangsters and many others.
She will be on tour nationally through the end of the year in support
of Tell Um.
