- S2: My name is S2 and I'm with holyhiphop@egroups.com and I was tellin' you (Chill) what we do. We got artists, promoters, radio people and a lot of fans that subscribe that are into Holy Hip-Hop. I haven't done and interview for a while and I figured "Man, I'm gettin' to their concert I might as well try and get a hold of you guys. But I wanted to talk to you guys about some things that aren't the most pleasant that I was talking to you (Chill) about before. But I think it's important that the Christian community knows somethin' of what's goin' on. I hurts my heart when I hear stuff like we were talkin' about...
Chill: Wack stuff!
- S2: It IS wack. I mean we're tryin' not to stick in the negative, but how are you guys feelin' about that whole "All Mixed Up" compilation?
Tic: It's not us. We do not endorse it. It's not licensed by us. It does not represent out style of music, our quality of music. We stand for QMM - Quality Music and Ministry.
- S2: Yeeah.
Tic: And this "All Mixed Up", JUNK is what it is just that. It's some old lyrics taken from the old albums that some of you already have "Gang Affiliated" & "Do or Die" and re-labeled and put with some wack beats behind it. If you listen to it the tracks are all off. It's horrible. It's like they tryin' to discredit out name or somethin' puttin' out some horrible stuff like that. Know what I'm sayin'? Some drastic measure 'bout to be taken behind that situation man.
Chill: Because' you know we don't represent God like that...
- S2: You gotta do it to the fullest...
Chill: ...and plus the people of God, our fans, we got people who love our music. They hear somethin' like that they might never buy another Gospel Gangstaz album again. Cause they probably think "Aw, they done fell off". You can forget that.
- S2: You guys are goin' forward musically. I mean I was so impressed by the new album. I was so blessed to hear that you guys were affiliated with B-Rite. I believe that's where Christian music needs to be. Right out there in the mainstream. Out there with my man Kirk. I saw a picure of you guys with him and it funny 'cause Kirk was down here (indicating height) and you guys were up here.
Tic: Oh, in the video?
- S2: Yeah, that too, and I saw some magazine picture. What's happenin' with B-Rite? How are you guys feelin' about that whole deal?
Chill: B-Rite cool, Kirk cool, you know what I'm sayin', but we fin to start our own label, and a lotta people don't know that, called Committee Records. QMM. Quality Music & Ministry so we startin' our own thing. We got out own groups. We got the Committee Soldier album comin' out. We got Tic-Toc gonna do somethin'. 20/20 the Ghetto Bird, he comin' out. I'm doin' some things. Solo doin' some things. There's gonna be a lot of new things done so they don't have to never worry about no mistakes like "All Mixed Up" happenin' cause we don't go down like that. We wanna apologize for even the fans hearin' some wack garbage like that. We apologize.
Tic: Yeeah.
- S2: I believe Christian music's gotta be the best and you can't have this wack stuff out there. I know there's been stuff out there. I have stuff in my CD collection. But it's gotta be the BEST. We gotta be out there representin' to the fullest. Now let me ask you guys. I was thinkin' "When did I first hear the Gangstaz?". Do you know when that was?
Back in the day.
Chill: '93?
- S2: Nah, nah.
Chill: When?
- S2: Back in 1991.
Chill: Ahhh!
- S2: 1991 Alliance of Light man.
Tic: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- S2: It was on an SFC video man. When you guys were in the bedroom flowin' to that New Jack City track. That was some tight stuff though, you know? That was when Reg was with you guys.
Chill: Reg and Solo
- S2: Are you guys connected with them at all? Do you have any contact? (God's Original Gangstas)
Chill & Tic: Not at all.
Tic: No way whatsoever, but we're not adverse to them. They doin' they thing. Praise God for 'em. GOGs - God's Original Gangstas. But we the Gospel Gangstaz #1 and original
Chill: Original Baby!
- S2: OGG.
Tic: God is doin' great and mighty works in all out lives and in all our respective ministries and we wish the best to every artist out there. They have our prayers, they have our love.
Chill: We don't playa hate on nobody.
Tic: And we just ask that none playa hate on us. Love us. Pray for us.
Chill: And there are a lot that do playa hate on us, but we not gonna playa hate on them. We not no haters.
Tic: The Bible says don't repay evil for evil.
- S2: You gotta be together. Do you guys have any contact with Sup? 'Cause I know that he had been instrumental...
Chill: Sup came by the studio a couple of times. We was workin' on somethin' and we was so busy...
Tic: You know Sup the Chemist he he's pretty much his own entity. He does his own thing. He has his own form of Hip-Hop and we love him and support him.
- S2: And he's crazy too.
Tic: You know and that's Sup.
Chill: Much love to Sup and his new album. He has a new album out.
Tic: Yeah.
- S2: That's some good stuff. I wanted to reminisce a little bit, go back in the day. Cause I got that video and I still play it.
Chill: I ain't seen that video! Can you send it to me? I need that video!
- S2: It was just Chill, Reg, and Solo.
Chill: 'What lyrics was it? Do you remember the lyrics?
- S2: It was "Like a fox, I'm outta the box, hit hard knocks..." somethin' like that.
Chill: Oh, oh, oh somethin' Solo wrote everybody was spittin'.
- S2: Yeah cause it was all written down. But that was some good stuff. And I wanted to talk to you, and not to bring up bad subjects, but I had met Dove back in the day too.
Chill: I told you what's up with him. I mean God bless Dove he be the man of God he's supposed to be. But the only way he can reconcile with me is to gimme my papers. You seen it if you read the credits "Dove, can I get my money". And it's not really the money, it's the principle.
- S2: Exactly.
Chill: I got a family. Tic Toc got a family. Solo got a family. We all got families. Know what I mean? And the Bible says "Let your yea be yea and your nay be nay". The Bible says owe a brotha nothin'.
- S2: And to be honest guys it's sad. It hurts to see any stuff like that goin' on. Maybe if he's readin' this email or if Sup or somebody tells him about it. I'd say do the right thing. Cause he's comin' out with an album and to be comin' out with an album in the industry and if there is somethin' like that between 'em Jesus said you gotta put it right.
Chill: You can't rob Peter to pay Paul. So as far as I'm concerned he's puttin' out an album with stolen money. You know what I mean? Because he owe another man.
But it ain't all about the money I just hope he get himself right with God. I don't know if he is, but he probably is. We don't talk to him and we haven't seen him in such a long time. So I can't say God ain't in his life. God might be in his life. We let bygones be bygones.
- S2: Glory to God. I hope things work out. Now I don't know if you guys were involved with this production, but it was SMOKIN'! The pre-release for 1NC - The One Nation Crew? Were you guys involved with that at all or did you hear any of it?
Chill: Nah, as a matter of fact I think we gonna be on the remix.
- S2: Oh my goodness! They got this salsa stuff and I love hispanic music.
Chill: Matter of fact, not all of us, but Solo gonna bust on the remix. We'll probably be in the remix video or somethin' like that. You see Solo, you see me. You see Tic you see me. You see me you see Tic. You see me you see Solo. You see Tic you see Solo. It don't matter who's on it. 2 Gs is on it.
- S2: One thing I was thinkin' about on the spiritual end of things. Accountability on the road. Do you guys get to church or do you get home to your home churches?
Tic: We got tapes, we got phone calls to our pastors, we got videos.
Chill: We got books we got big brothers in the Lord who we talk to everyday. So the spiritual aspect don't die down just 'cause we on tour.
- S2: Praise God. Do you still have the same pastor?
Tic: No, we're no longer with World Harvest Worship Church. We are with Church of the Harvest Bishop McClendon. Much love Bishop, we love you man.
- S2: I tell you what, it's been good talkin' to you guys. And like I said it blesses me to see people doin' ministry out there on the streets. Do you guys get to do other ministry aside from the concert? Do you get into any juvenile detention center? That's my thing 'cause I'm into youth. I'm a Social Worker.
Chill: I think we goin' to one next week.
- S2: Do you guys get received pretty well there?
Chill: Gangstas recognize gangstas. Gang recognize gang. We go into the prisons and we already know what's crackin' 'cause we seen it on the real, so they real receptive. We dress like them. We talk like them.
- S2: Cause I'm just some white boy from farm country, but God has blessed me to be involved in urban music. I tell you what, it was excellent to talk to you guys. God bless you in your ministries.
Chill: Don't forget to look for the albums. 20/20, Committee Soldiers, and the new Gospel Gangsta album is almost done.
Tic: Don't buy "All Mixed Up"!
Chill: Please don't buy it 'cause we don't support it. We don't endorse it. If you buy it you a fool.
Tic: It's at your own risk.
Chill: Get yo' money back. Don't buy that garbage.
Tic: Visit our website www.gospelgangstaz.com Get at us. We love you all.
Chill: And no disrespect, but don't come up to me with "All Mixed Up" and ask me to sign it. Cause I won't sign it cause it don't...
Tic: ...represent us.
Chill: Yeah this is Chill-E baby OOGs and on the behalf of Tic Toc, 20, my DJ Ray-Love, and Mr. Solo the Coach, my management company, the radio company, we wanna thank all the fans for buyin' the record "I Can See Clearly Now" and supportin' "Do or Die" and "Gang Affiliated" because without yall it wouldn't be possible. We wanna thank our whole team 'cause this album "I Can See Clearly Now" got nominated for 2 Dove Awards, a Stellar, and a Grammy. All in one album and one year.
- S2: And THAT'S God.
Chill: That's Jesus. You can't beat that with a stick. And we wanna give God all the praise because without out Him it wouldn't be possible. A lotta people get up on awards and say "I wanna thank Jesus" but literally without Him it wouldn't be possible. Because He's the head of the Gospel Gangstaz. He's the head. And it all runs from the head down, so you know what's goin' down. So bless yall, much love. 2 Gs.
Well, you heard it. Yall gimme some feedback and Cameron if you wanna publish any part of it, just hit me up.
God Bless,
S2
