Being an emcee these days is more than rhyming ability and style. It's grace, personality, and how one carries themselves. Hip Hop Culture is a staple in society, the mood, the style, the mentality. When you speak with Solomon The Wise, his name is true to form. Solomon gives honest, wholesome answers that aren't fence sitting, or conventional. There's definitely something I like about this emcee, aside from his stellar record. Join me and Solomon for a chat about the emcee's background, thoughts, and plans for the future, courtesy of www.joe538.com.

Solomon, first off...I'd like to commend you for your style. You are coming from Florida, which is dominated on the commercial market by bounce music. Yet you provide a healthy blend between underground hip hop delivery and mainstream arrangement and production. Care to comment?.

AS FAR AS BEING FROM FLORIDA, NOT REALLY I WAS BORN AND MOSTLY RAISED IN CAMDEN COUNTY, NEW JERSEY, ONLY BEEN HERE ON AND OFF A COUPLE TIMES IN MY LIFE, BUT I DEFINITELY GOT ROOTS HERE ITS JUST THAT ARTIST WITH MY EAST COAST STYLE CAN'T REALLY DO HIS THING DOWN HERE IN MIAMI.

Last time we spoke, you mentioned how various old school rappers influenced you. Don't you feel that emcees like yourself need to give back to old school hip hop culture?

I GOT LOVE FOR OLD SCHOOL ARTIST, A LOT OF THESE CATS WOULDN'T BE BLING BLINGIN' IN THE RAP GAME IF IT WASN'T FOR THEM. GIVE RESPECT.

I must warn you. In my review of your LP...I did do a lot of comparisons. As a producer for much of your album, don't you feel that tracks like "Rise Up" are a little too much like Swizz Beats?, a lot of the beats had emulated styles and traits. Could you comment?

MY PRODUCTION IS VERY VERSATILE (GET IN WHERE U FIT IN).MY PRODUCER J-VIBE IS VERY INFLUENCED BY SWIZZ AND TIMBERLAND BUT IF YOU HEAR MORE SONGS THEN WHAT YOU HEARD, YOU CAN SEE THE DIFFERENCE.

Your original creative ways, I peep in your tracks... allows you to keep it real and from the heart w/ such flavor. You are one artist I can't compare any other artist too, which you really don't see anymore. Who do you feel inspired you or was a mentor for you?

I'M INSPIRED BY ANY GOOD MUSIC THAT COMES FROM THE SOUL, IF I FEEL IT, IT INSPIRES ME. CRAZY AS IT SOUNDS I USED TO REALLY DIG MICHAEL JACKSON AS A YOUNGIN'.THE MAN WAS JUST AN INSPIRATION TO WATCH, I MEAN HE ALWAYS DID HIS THING, PEOPLE ALWAYS SAID HE WAS DIFFERENT, BUT THE MEDIA IS ALWAYS TRYING TO SEPARATE. YO,F*CK WUT THEY SAY MIKE WAS TRULY BAD AND STILL IS IN HIS 30 MILL. PIECE OF PROPERTY.

On a lighter note, I feel that you have the makings of something big. With your whole smooth aura, I have a feeling that we will see you in lights. When you reach that level, which you will, what do you intend to do?

WE'LL ITS BEEN A STRUGGLE TO SEE THAT LIGHTS, SO HOPEFULLY I CAN TAKE IT ALL IN GOOD HANDS. I JUST WANT PEOPLE TO LISTEN AND RELATE. HOLD IT DOWN YOU KNOW.

What aspects of the Hip Hop Industry have changed, since you first got involved? Positive or Negative from an artist / producer perspective?

YO HIP HOP IS KINDA OVER CROWDED RIGHT NOW WITH BAND WAGON RIDERS, AND HIP HOP AS ALWAYS BEEN A CULTURE, ALOT OF THESE SHINEY RAP CATS DON'T EVEN SEE DAT, BUT LIKE ANY WAR DAT REPRESENTS STRENGTH, THE PHONY WILL LEAVE AND DIE OUT AND THE REAL WILL STILL STAND AND RAISE THERE FLAG.

Where and How do you see Hip Hop as a whole in...lets say the next decade?

THE REAL WILL SURVIVE AND THE FAKE WILL SHOW THERE REAL COLORS IN DEW TIME, AND WILL HAVE HIP HOP WHERE WE NEED IT, BACK TO ITS ORIGINAL FORMAT.

Do you feel Hip Hop has become more diverse from how it was back in the days, I am talking 1985 and so forth?

DIVERSITY IS ALWAYS GOOD, WE NEED FLAVOR IN RAP, I MEAN RAP IS ARE MUSIC LABEL, AND IT CAN GET BORING ONLY LISTENING TO ONE KIND OF STYLE. WE NEED VERSATILITY AND DIVERSITY. ITS CHANGED A LOT BUT YOU STILL GOT DAT GOOD WEST COAST RAP AND DAT EAST COAST RAP, BUT NOW DA SOUTH DEFINITELY IS MAKING A BIGGER EFFECT THEN THE 2 LIVE CREW DAYS.

Well, Solomon, I appreciate your time. I wish you the best, and please keep in touch with us at www.joe538.com. In parting, I realize you have a production company, Wise Owl, can you plug your next projects for us...and give us a date?

RIGHT NOW MY MAIN CONCERN IS GETTING THESE PROFESSIONAL CONTACTS AND BEING HEARD, THEN WISE OWL WILL BE IN FULL EFFECT WITH A LOAD OF NEW ARTIST THAT ARE EXTRA HOT WITH ANGALODAS. DON'T SLEEP ON MY FIRST EP WORDS OF WISDOM AT WWW.MP3.COM/THEWISE (ONLY $8.00) AND DON'T SNOOZE ON MY HOME GIRL "STITCHES" A.K.A. STAR WISE OWLS NEXT PROJECT. YO,P LOVE AND RESPECT. MANHUNT, KEEP MAKING IT HAPPEN.

Thank you for time, and don't stop keeping it real. Peace, Respect, One~!
