Malaco Records is stepping back and also stepping forward at the same time with their 2007 compilation release Yes! Quartet. The record label is honoring a foundational style of gospel music “the quartet” with their latest release. Yes! Quartet combines some of the legendary quartet groups in the gospel industry with a roster of rising quartet groups together giving the listener an album full of floor stomping and spirit filled harmony.

The Pilgrim Jubilees opens the album thanking Jesus for handling the case by dying on the cross with ‘Jesus Got Me Off’. Towards the end of the album with tell everyone not to wait for Sunday or after the storm to give God honor on ‘I Can Praise Him Now’. Spencer Taylor and the Highway QC’s let us know that even though they sing of God’s glory, there have been some rough times on “It Hasn’t Always Been Easy”. They come back later in the album with a favorite of mine, ‘Peace In the Midst of the Storm’ The track puts an encouraging word out for those to know God will be there when things can’t seem to get any worse.

Slim and the Supreme Angels give God the glory He deserves on “Lift Him Up”. True Believers bring a contemporary quartet style to the album with their praise and worship tracks. ‘In This Place’ is sure to have the spirit moving throughout the place if added to any praise and worship session. The powerful and perfect harmony used by The Jackson Sisters to tell the listener the good news of Jesus. On ‘My Help (Comes from the Lord)’ the group proclaims “His name is Jesus, Almighty Savior, He is my Glory divine” showing how great the Lord is as a provider for His children. The Sensational Nightingales bring an assurance with the slow balled ‘Every Promise in the Book is Mine’. The song brings a joy to your heart knowing that the Lord holds firm to all the promises he makes in the Bible.

Malaco is moving in a different territory with Yes! Quartet and has the right frame of mind. Honoring the traditional singing style while adding with new artists to reach the masses and spread Gods word. The album is sure to keep you focused on Gods greatness, while enjoying some good old fashioned and new style quartet gospel music.
