LOS ANGELES - Executive Producer/Director Bill Duke will expose startling issues of betrayal as he presents ‘COVER’ the movie in partnership with the internationally acclaimed Bishop Noel Jones of City of Refuge Church (14527 S. San Pedro Street, Gardena, CA 90248) on Friday, April 4, 2008 at 8:00PM. The shocking story that will rock the very foundation of our culture - and church - features the all-star celebrity cast of Vivica A. Fox, Aunjanue Ellis, Leon, Raz Adoti, Paula Jai Parker, Clifton Davis, Roger Guenveur Smith, Patti LaBelle, Louis Gossett Jr. and other notable actors. Along with Bill Duke and Bishop Jones, some cast members will be on hand at the screening to address some of the hard-hitting issues revealed in the movie.

Dubbed as a thriller with a social conscience, COVER features the story of church-going homemaker VALERIE MAAS, who is the prime suspect of a New Year’s Eve murder. After discovering that her husband of many years has been leading a double life, her strength of character and faith keep her going as the revelation of her husband’s betrayal threatens to destroy all they have known.

COVER has been screened in venues ranging from the Magic Johnson Theatre in Los Angeles to Village East in New York - but this is the first time this alarming movie will step foot inside the church. “Our community is faced with numerous threatening challenges. The black church has always been the foundation of our community, and I simply want to use film as another tool that the church community can use to inform, educate, and begin to resolve some of the major crisis issues that we face as a community today,” notes Bill Duke.

And to begin that dialogue within the church community, he sought to partner with The City of Refuge’s Bishop Jones - who is already well known for his efforts to combat religion’s inability to offer real relevance to the changing climate of the times. “The relevance of the movie Cover to the congregation is unquestionably significant,” Bishop Jones remarked. “The urban Christian in general, and the African American female in particular cannot avoid the truths that are depicted cinematographically in this project. A learning experience. A must see for all of us. Bill shocks us into reality.”

Also addressaddressing the audience in a Q&A session after the show, Bishop Jones and Bill Duke will get the viewers to move past the shock and begin the journey towards understanding what the churches role should be in helping people to heal from the devastating consequences brought about by the type of betrayal portrayed in COVER.
