Title:A Kid’s Point Of View
Reviewer: Gary White
I’m glad to see the gospel arena growing with the release of albums weekly. It brings more of an excitement to know that with all the influence of other forms of music on our youth that we can enjoy the new album from Dijon. ‘A Kids Point of View’ is a debut from the 14 year old South Carolina native and is sure to be a success. It’s not hard to hear that young Dijon has grown up in the church and is being led down a righteous path to reach others in search of a good word.
Under the executive production of Todd Muhammad, Dijon brings a a spiritual message and to the youth. We get a good mixture of personal messages about how the Lord is working through this young artist’s life. The album is carefully put together with a mix of gospel ballads as well as contemporary r&b gospel tracks that cater to the young crowd.
The title track, ‘A Kids Point of View’ is a shout to the adults
letting us know that our youth look to at us as examples and form their own views and opinions from our actions. Deep base hip hop beats and are used to reach a more urban crowd on ‘He Is Lord’ and ‘Jesus Will know’.
Gospel producer Asoph Ward helps out the album with soulful tracks that flow perfectly under Dijon’s voice. ‘Real Love’ takes time to let the Lord know how much love the youngster has due to His greatness.
‘Worthy Lamb’ and ‘I Know Better’ are two of the albums ballads that in which Dijon shows admiration to the Lord for his greatness. Both tracks show Dijon’s vocal ability to transition to a more mature production style able to connect with adults as well. Dijon closes the album with a great cover of the popular Chris Tomlin track ‘How Great Is Our God’.
‘Jesus Will Know’ opens up with a voice repeating “A true soldier of God”. Dijon proves this statement to be true and is definitely being led under positive leadership. A strong Christian message, slamming beats, a good voice and the mindset that God is first in this day and time make this a nice album. This is a must purchase for any young believer that is having trouble staying focused and may be on the fence about the spiritual and earthly world. Knowing that such an album speaks to a portion of the youth population gives hope to a better future.
